Stop flooding your stomach!
Are you having the habit of drinking too much fluids with your meals?
You need to have some form of fluids with your meal, as
it helps to lubricate your food. and,
when it is lubricated, it becomes
easy for you to swallow your food down throat. Some
of my patient even used to have habit of
drinking a jug full of water with the meal! Taking
limited amount of liquids during meal will
not affect your enzymes. But if you have
habit of taking excessive water, cold drink, or
even buttermilk with your meal, it is not good for you.
Why?
If you drink excess fluids with your meal, your
digestive enzymes get diluted. Because of this,
only partial digestion of your food takes place.
How much fluid can you have with your meal?
- 1-2 Katori of thin dal &
- Up to 200ml of buttermilk
When can you drink more fluids?
You can have plenty of water or other healthy drinks like
coconut water, lemon water, butter milk etc.
60minutes prior to or after your meal.
Absolute NO to carbonated drinks as it will
just add on calories to your meal and
they also contain additives and preservatives which
disturb your digestive enzymes, making your digestion more difficult.
Remember, just lubricate your food.
Don’t flood your stomach!
That’s all for today.
See you next Tuesday with another Tuesday tip.
Till then…… Take care….
