Fatty Liver Disease- types, reasons and remedies……..
Liver helps your body to digest food, store energy,
And remove toxins. Any problem in your liver will
Lead to issues with your digestion, and your body
Would no longer be able to remove those toxins. Your
Body gets loaded with the toxins and your health
Will be seriously compromised. One of the
Most common liver disease now a days is Fatty liver disease.
Fatty liver occurs when excessive amount of fat gets
deposited in your liver. It is normal to have little fat in
your liver, but if it is more than 5%, your liver is
considered as fatty liver. You can have fatty liver disease if
you are suffering from following symptoms:
- Fatigue & weakness
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain on right side
- Itching &
- Jaundice
Fatty liver disease can be of two types:
1-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE
It occurs due to drinking excess alcohol. Your liver
breaks down most of the alcohol you drink, so that
it can be removed from your body. But this process of
breaking it down generate harmful chemicals which
damages your liver cells. The more alcohol you drink,
the more you damage your liver.
2- NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE
It is not related to heavy alcohol use.
It can be because of following reasons:
- Overweight
- Insulin resistance
- High level of sugar in your blood
- High level of fats in your blood
- Hepatitis C infection
- Certain drugs including steroids
- Exposure to some toxins
- Poor diet
The symptoms of non-alcoholic fatty liver can be vague and they can
resemble those of other problems. So,
proper diagnosis is required to rule out
other causes leading to these vague symptoms. If you
leave it untreated, then your fatty liver disease can
lead to cirrhosis which can ultimately lead
to liver failure. And, liver failure is one of very
serious life-threatening situation.
Unfortunately, there are currently no FDA approved
medications available to treat fatty liver disease.
What are the other measures that can
help you to treat your fatty liver disease and also
help you to prevent further complications?
They are as follows:
- Lose weight if you are over weight
- Stop taking medicine if it is the cause
- Keep your diabetes under control
- Control your blood lipid level
- Stop taking alcohol
- Take foods that will enhance your liver function.
