I have seen many patients, who keeps on

applying lotion and cream for their dry skin. They

don’t even bother to consult their doctor. There are

many reasons for your dry skin. But one of the reasons

could be your deficiency of certain vitamins.

Vitamin-D

Vitamin D is known for its effects on bone health along

with calcium and magnesium. But along with this known function,

Vitamin D- also helps your skin to maintain its healthy

state and to heal as it plays an important role in

the cellular proliferation and differentiation of your

skin cells. Thus, it is an important therapeutic option

for your skin problems. Vitamin D also helps to built

your immunity. Strong immunity is important for your

skin health.

Natural source of vitamin D is

  • Sun light

Daily exposure to sun for 20-30 minutes, between 9—1 pm

is sufficient for your daily need of Vitamin D.

Vitamin B group

Vitamin B group are essential for cell growth, development and

overall functioning. Thus, it is very important for your skin health as

our skin is constantly regenerating. Deficiency of vitamin B group

may lead to skin dryness & increase your skin inflammation. However,

B- group vitamins are water soluble, means they are not stored in your body. Thus,

you need to include it in your daily diet.

Good natural vegetarian sources of B- group vitamins are:

  • Green leafy veggies
  • Sprouts
  • Nuts

Remember, in addition to these vitamins, drinking adequate

amount of water is also important for your skin health.
