Are You Taking Kadha/ Hot Water For Corona?

Are you taking Kadha/ hot water for corona?

Cases of corona are increasing day by day

throughout the country. The panic is also

increasing as this time it is also affecting small

children who were mostly not affected during the first wave.

And, you must be getting lots of advice and Whats App forwards

related to Ayurveda and home remedies for corona.

advises like:

  • Kadha (water+ pepper+ turmeric + other spices)
  • Hot water with dried ginger powder (saunth)

You start following these advises without giving any thought

that whether they are suitable to you or not. You

have to be very cautious as taking lots of Kadha and hot water

can lead to other serious health issues.

Be cautious:

Summer is already going towards its peak along with this

new peak of corona & your body may not be able to handle

these excessively hot drinks.

There is a common belief that you get adverse reactions only from

the allopathic medicines and Ayurveda medicines are free from

any side effects, it is far from truth.

Taking too much of kadha can have many side effects like:

  • Sore throat
  • Acidity
  • Internal bleeding
  • Burning in stomach
  • Burning while passing urine
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Bleeding nose

What should you do?

  • Limit your intake of kadha & hot water. Take them as a medicine.

Don’t over do it. Also, add spices in adequate amount and

not in excess. Everything has its particular measurement. So,

anything in excess is not good.

  • Kadha/ hot water is not a replacement of your regular water intake.

I have seen many of my patients replace their regular drinking water bottle with

thermos filled with kadha or hot water. Please don’t do that. If you want to have

Kadha or hot water then just have it once or

twice a day and not whole day.

  • In summer we get many water rich fruits and vegetables. You can

increase your intake of these summer fruits and veggies like:

  • Watermelon
  • Muskmelon
  • Cucumber
  • Tomatoes
  • Mango

Anything in excess is harmful. Moderation is the key.

That’s all for today

See you next Tuesday with another Tuesday tip

Till then…..

Take good care of yourself.
