Attention High B.P. patients- Avoid these 5 hidden sources of Sodium!

Being a High B.P. (Hypertensive) patient,

you must be aware that you are supposed to:

  •  Avoid Sprinkling salt on salads
  • Consume less salt in your food
  • Avoid pickles and papad

However, staying away from these food does not mean

that you are not getting more salt than you should.

There are other food item which contains salt and of which you are unaware.

So, let us see

5 food items that are secret sources of high Sodium,

And which you must be taking frequently in your daily life

1=DIET SODA-

The calories might be low, but the Sodium content is still high.

Taking diet soda have become trend now a days.

That is not only harmful to hypertensive people, but

also to the normal people.

It is commonly seen that when you eat out side junk food, at that time you take this diet soda,

thinking that it will digest your food easily.

But when you are taking junk food with these diet soda you are worsening your digestion.

So, think twice when you drink diet soda next time.

2= BREAD

     2 slices of your bread, even if marked as ‘lite’ or ‘whole wheat’,

     contains high amount of salt (more than 200mg).

When you want to eat sandwich, it is better you can have homemade roti sandwich.

Which is tastier than your bread sandwich and of course healthy also.

You, as a parent have to set a habit,

then only your kids will follow that.

3=SOY SAUCE

     One table spoon of soy sauce contains more than 1500mg of salt.

4=BAKING SODA

Avoid food containing baking soda, as it contains salt in it.

Avoid ready made bakery products like- cookies, pancake etc.

Even avoid using baking soda in homemade food items like-idly, dhokla, muthiya, handvo etc.

You may have habit of adding baking soda to your idly, dhokla, muthiya, handvo etc.,

to make it soft, but instead of that you can allow it to get ferment naturally.

5=LAXATIVES

Stay away from laxatives as most laxatives contains Sodium in them.

If you are having constipation then it is always better to have more of fibrous food

Like all green leafy vegetables, whole pulses, fruits etc.

Also drink at least 2—3 liters of water and

Do regular exercise.
