Eye health:Your food is your medicine
After this pandemic, we all have increased screen
time. & it is equally applicable to our children as
they have to study online.
In this scenario, taking certain food can help you maintain your eye health.
You are well aware about certain nutrients for your healthy eye like-
Vitamin- A (beta-carotene), which you get from all red & orange
color fruits and veggies. You also get it from green
leafy vegetables. But along with vitamin-A there are
certain antioxidant which are equally important for your eyes.
These antioxidants help you clear the harmful
free radicals that are cause by harmful UV rays.
It also helps in better vision specially in dim light or
where glare is a problem.
And these antioxidants are:
#Lutein
Good natural vegetarian sources of lutein are:
- Spinach
- Sprouts
- Broccoli
#zeaxanthin
Good natural vegetarian sources of zeaxanthin are:
- Beet root
- Ladies finger
- Pumpkin
Along with this antioxidant rich food you also need to
include good fat. This good fat is omega-3 fatty acid. Lutein & zeaxanthin
are fat soluble antioxidant. Means they require little amount of good fat
to get absorbed in your body. Best source of omega-3 are-
Walnut, chia seed and flax seeds.
Include colors to your plate to get healthy vision.
Also,
Remember to stop using your screen at least
30 minutes before your bed time.
