Is your child feeling excessive nervousness during exam? – Your food is your medicine

If your child is feeling nervous during this exam season,

it is good in a way as it shows that

your child is concerned about

performing good in the exams. However,

even if your child’s preparation is good, and

still he/she is feeling excessive nervousness, it

can be because of deficiency of

Vitamin-B6, Niacin or Magnesium.

1)VITAMIN-B6 (PYRIDOXIN)-

It is essential for the formation of

several neurohormones such as serotonin,

alpha-amino butyric acid and epinephrine. These

neurohormones influences your emotion and thus,

help to tackle nervousness in your child.

Good natural sources of vitamin b6 (pyridoxin) are:

Sunflower seed:

Sunflower seed are easily available and

they should be taken raw and not roasted. You can

have them in between meal 1-2 spoon.

Pista:

Along with vitamin B6, pista also contains

other minerals which helps to

increase your child’s immunity.

Green leafy vegetables:

It is more beneficial when you

eat them raw. You can add

green leafy vegetable like spinach and

coriander leaves to your salads, smoothie etc.

2)NIACIN-

Niacin is vital vitamin which helps in

normal function of nervous system. Its deficiency

can cause irritability, inability to

concentrate and poor memory.

Good natural sources of niacin are:

  • Roasted groundnuts
  • rice bran
  • garden cress seed (asalio).

3)MAGNESIUM-

Magnesium plays a large role in the development of

serotonin, which helps to keep your

mood good. Thus, its regulates your

emotion. Its deficiency causes mental confusion,

irritability, fatigue and predispose to stress.

Good natural sources of magnesium are:

  • Dry ginger
  • Dry coconut
  • Coriander &
  • Ragi

May both you and your child be able to tackle

this exam nervousness with good preparation &

good nutrition.
